In this chapter share, educators will experience and introduction to Kodaly pedagogy—the three phases (prepare, present, and practice) and the traditional scope and sequence for musical concepts for schools in the United States.
Rhythmic Building Bricks are fundamental tools in many music classrooms. Using these basic 2-beat and 3-beat rhythm structures, students can explore and incorporate their own ideas in classroom music and movement projects. Participants will experience ways to engage students in the use of the bricks through sample lessons that involve improvisation and composition.
