It's Written in the Stars; Developing Theme-Based Lesson

Kristine Wolfe

Massry Center for the Arts -- College of St. Rose, Albany, NY

Join us as we sing, say, move and play to create a star themed rondo that is abounding with curricular content!  Workshop participants will incorporate the four steps of the Orff teaching process (imitate, explore, label and create) while making music using body percussion, xylophones, recorders and more!  We will also explore processes and strategies participants can use to develop their own theme-based lessons and performances.

Kristine Wolfe teaches K-6 general music at Portal Elementary in the Papillion - La Vista Community School District in Papillion, NE, where she also directs The Singing Stars and  OSHE  (Orff-Schulwerk Honor Ensemble).  She holds a BM from Iowa State University and an MM  from the University of Nebraska - Omaha. Kristine is an active member of the Great Plains Orff Chapter, currently serving as Program Chair.  In addition to her Kodaly training, Kristine is an Orff Level I Basic instructor.  In her free time, Kristine enjoys playing oboe and recorder.
