Improvisation and Composition with Rhythmic Building Bricks

Rob Hileman

Skano Elementary School, Shenendehowa CSD, Route 146, Clifton Park, NY

Rhythmic Building Bricks are fundamental tools in many music classrooms.  Using these basic 2-beat and 3-beat rhythm structures, students can explore and incorporate their own ideas in classroom music and movement projects.  Participants will experience ways to engage students in the use of the bricks through sample lessons that involve improvisation and composition.

Rob Hileman has been teaching K-5 Classroom Music and Chorus in the Scotia-Glenville CSD for over 20 years.  Rob served as BHVAOSA chapter president from 2016-2018
