Ostinato Tango: A Playful Exploration from Simple to Complex

This workshop, "Ostinato Tango, a playful exploration from simple to complex" will focus on developing ostinati through music, movement, speech, and instrument playing using "fall-themed" materials. These Orff activities will expand improvisational and compositional skills for teachers and their students!

Mary Helen Solomon is currently Assistant Director of Choral and Orff Studies, teaching students in grades 6-12, at Episcopal School of Jacksonville in Florida. She has taught elementary and preschool students for 25 years prior to this position. For the past 25 years she has been a teacher of theory and pedagogy for Orff Levels 2 and 3 at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. This past January she taught Level 4 in Waikato, New Zealand. In 1998 she received the Gladys Prior Award for Career Teaching from the University of North Florida. Her book titles include: Dance for the Children of One Earth, Great Big House, The Little Christmas Book and Tropical Recorder.
